AB Group Launches Photovoltaic Farm in Magnice Near Wrocław
23.04.2025
The photovoltaic farm of the largest IT and consumer electronics distributor in the CEE region spans 10,000 sqm and is expected to generate approximately 760 MWh of electricity annually—equivalent to the average yearly consumption of 380 Polish households. The installation can temporarily cover up to 100% of the energy demand of the entire logistics center and office building in Magnice, aligning with AB Group’s ESG strategy.
The AB Group photovoltaic farm, located at the company’s main distribution center in Magnice near Wrocław, has officially gone live. The installation was completed by Alsen, a company within the AB Group that, in addition to its electronics business, also provides top-quality photovoltaic system installation services.
The ground-mounted PV system in Magnice occupies 1 hectare and includes 1,812 solar panels. Energy demand analyses of the logistics and office facilities in Magnice indicate that the solar power plant will be able to meet up to 100% of the site’s electricity demand at certain times during the day. On an annual basis, it is expected to cover approximately 30% of the facility’s total energy needs.
– We are consistently building a sustainable and environmentally friendly business model for the AB Group. The photovoltaic farm will significantly reduce CO₂ emissions while also lowering electricity procurement costs – says Andrzej Przybyło, CEO of AB S.A.
The total investment cost amounted to PLN 3.1 million, with an estimated payback period of around 7 years. The new infrastructure, including a transformer station, will also be used to power planned electric vehicle chargers.
The Magnice photovoltaic farm is another step in AB Group’s ongoing commitment to green energy. On the roof of the building at Kościerzyńska Street in Wrocław—home to AB’s Competence Center—a solar installation generates approximately 100 MWh of electricity annually, covering about one-sixth of the facility’s energy needs. Additionally, the company’s branch office in Chorzów features a rooftop installation producing 20 MWh per year.
